 Tucked away in the Perth Hills, Montgomery Academy of the Arts caters for all students, aged twelve to eighteen, that excel in the artistic disciplines of Visual Arts, Dance, Vocals, Instrumentals and Productions. The school, founded in 1952, by Elliott Montgomery, and his wife Lou Anne, have produced many excellent artist throughout the years. While it's teaching methods have stayed along the same, traditional lines since the beginning, on the pretense that they obviously work, the school itself has become much more modern and technologically advanced.
think you're up for the C H A L L E N G E ??
Every year, the students put on a talent exhibition, a week long display, culminating in the aptly named the Montgomery Evening of Excellence, showcasing the many talents of all students, through all years and disciplines. At the end of the exhibition, awards are handed out for the best in each section. Competition is fierce, and everyone wants that coverted trophy for their class.
Older students are in the running for scholarships to the most prestigious art academies all over the world, or college completely paid for by the Montgomery guild. This is only given to the most promising students, and only a few places are offered each year.
Because of this, emotions run high, and mental, emotional and physical abuse is very possible. By yourself, or by your fellow classmates. Tempers boiling over are almost inevitable,a nd the people you may consider your friends, soon become your competitors, and maybe even enemies as you strive to the top.
Montgomery is just like any other high school. The cliques, the teachers, the extra-curricular activities. Think you can handle all your art classes, as well as keeping up and above C average in all your academic classes? Stir in your out of class endevours and it's a dangerous, potent mix of fun, craziness, and maybe even despair.
