"How many times do I have to come down here, and ask you incompetent morons for help!?" yelled Jackson, slamming his hand to the counter. Anger raged through him as he tried to explain that it was the third time in one week that someone defaced the church, "If it were that strip club up the road, I bet you'd be there in a heart beat! But because it's a church, you could careless is that right?!?" mimicking what he thinks people are saying, "It's just a stupid church, no one ever goes there." He paused before starting to yell again, "Get someone out there, who can find out who is painting on my church!!!"
The officer, who couldn't have been a cop long seemed taken back by Jackson's anger. He stepped back and looked around for help, "I'm sorry sir. " he frantically kept scanning his surroundings for someone to step in, "We can send someone to the church." The officer hesitated his response and stumbled over his words, "Ev..Everyone is out right now, s--so I will let someone know soon as they get back." He looked blankly at Jackson, hoping his words were enough to send him on his way.
Jackson smacked the counter again, "I don't buy that, but whatever, maybe I need to take matters into my own hands. What's your name?" He looked for the officers badge, "Cole? Officer ..Cole? How would you like that? I'll just figure it out on my own." Jackson could see Officer Cole looking past him now, and turned to see what he was looking at.
Jackson found himself standing eye to eye with the police chief, " Son, maybe you need a breather." He grimaced at Jackson. "Now you can either walk out of here, go home and let us handle things as we've said, or I can give you a steel bar hotel room for the night." His hands slid up his hips and onto his holster. Jackson let out a disappointed sigh. His disappointment wasn't with the police, it was with himself. He walked around with a ghost that haunted him night and day. It weighed him down that he couldn't save her.. Her whom he didn't dare say her name. The dark angel in his dreams. He liked to always blame his anger and his downfalls on her. He chalked all of his short comings up to not being able to help her. And he always wondered if she were out there somewhere, or if she met the fate he warned her of. "I'm good." He answered softly, side stepping the police chief, "I'll go."
